Lisa Wood is a Winnipeg-based artist. Her work has focused on self-portraiture since 2003, investigating the tension between public/private, attraction/repulsion, self love/self hate through obsessive self-scrutiny. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 2002, and studied painting at Yale University, obtaining her Master of Fine Arts degree in 2005. Lisa has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including Manitoba Arts Council and Winnipeg Arts Council grants to individual artists. She has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. Lisa was the Director of PLATFORM Centre for Photographic and Digital Arts from 2005 – 2007. She taught in the School of Art at the University of Manitoba from 2007 – 2011, and currently is the Program Coordinator at Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art.
